Historical Performance

Over the past three fiscal years, the company has faced a challenging period marked by declining profitability and cash flow metrics. Revenue showed an inconsistent trend, decreasing at a CAGR of -1.7% from $18.8 billion in 2023 to $18.2 billion in 2025. This decline in revenue was accompanied by a consistent decrease in margins, with gross margin compressing by 8.5pp from 21.5% to 13.0%, operating margin declining by 8.6pp from 16.8% to 8.1%, and net margin falling by 6.5pp from 13.0% to 6.5%. These margin contractions reflect the company's struggle to maintain profitability amidst declining sales. Earnings per share also consistently decreased, dropping by a significant 26.1% CAGR from $14.64 to $7.99, indicating a substantial erosion in shareholder value.

Cash flow generation was volatile, with operating cash flow decreasing consistently by 35.8% CAGR from $3.5 billion to $1.4 billion, while free cash flow experienced an inconsistent pattern, ending at $501 million in 2025 after a negative dip in 2024. Despite these challenges, the company managed to enhance per-share value through a strategic share buyback, reducing the share count by 11.4%, which helped mitigate the impact of declining earnings on a per-share basis. However, net debt increased consistently, rising from $1.7 billion to $3.4 billion, reflecting a growing reliance on debt financing. The company's return on invested capital also declined consistently, reaching 10.0% by 2025, indicating reduced efficiency in generating returns from its investments. Overall, the company's recent performance highlights significant challenges in maintaining profitability and cash flow stability, despite efforts to enhance shareholder value through share buybacks.
